2025 is shaping up to be a banner year for U SPORTS, the national governing body for university sport in Canada, with major championships showcasing the talent and dedication of Canadian university athletes across the nation. From record-breaking moments on the ice to the historic 60th Vanier Cup, U SPORTS continues to elevate its presence on the national stage.
The 60th Vanier Cup, Canada’s most prestigious university football championship, is set to take place on November 22, 2025, at Mosaic Stadium in Regina, Saskatchewan—marking the first time Regina will host the Vanier Cup and only the third time it will be held in Western Canada. Adding to the significance, the event will coincide with the University of Regina’s 50th anniversary, celebrating both academic and athletic excellence. With its passionate football culture and enthusiastic fanbase, Saskatchewan is primed to deliver a Vanier Cup experience like no other.
This exciting year for U SPORTS has already seen incredible achievements, most recently highlighted by the 2025 U SPORTS Men’s Hockey Championship. Hosted at The Arena at TD Place in Ottawa, the tournament ended with the hosting Ottawa Gee-Gees making history by capturing their first-ever University Cup title. This tournament also featured a record-setting game where the Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU) Bold defeated the Mount Royal Cougars in the longest match in U SPORTS men’s hockey history, spanning five overtimes.
U SPORTS continues to elevate its championships and student-athletes on the national stage. As part of this mission, U SPORTS has renewed its partnership with Cosmos Sports & Entertainment for sponsorship sales through to 2026. This renewal ensures Cosmos Sports & Entertainment’s involvement in enhancing the profile of Canadian university sports across various championships, including the Vanier Cup, University Cup, and other marquee events.
