Four Toronto Rush rookies have been recognized among the Ultimate Frisbee Association’s top rookie players, with Max Pettenuzzo earning First Team All-Rookie honours and Justin Podnar, Eric Zhuang and Spencer Dillon named to the Second All-Rookie Team.
The four selections represent a strong showing for Toronto’s 2026 rookie class, giving the Rush a promising group of young players to build around heading into the future.
All four rookies made a significant impact on the Rush’s offensive production and defensive efforts during their debut seasons. Pettenuzzo finished the season with 39 assists, the most among all UFA rookies, while Podnar, Zhuang and Dillon each played significant roles in the Toronto lineup. Podnar led the Rush’s D-line with 38 total scores and finished the season with the team’s second-highest plus/minus rating behind Pettenuzzo. Zhuang led the Rush with 18 blocks, ranking fifth in the league and second among rookies. On the offensive side, Dillon was a key contributor, recording the third-most completions on the team.
The Rush finished the 2026 season in fourth place in the East Division with a record of 6-6-0. Despite missing the postseason, the emergence of four All-Rookie Team selections gives Toronto a strong foundation to build on heading into the 2027 season.
Pettenuzzo, Podnar, Zhuang and Dillon will look to carry the momentum from their debut seasons into next year as they continue to develop within the Rush organization. Their All-Rookie honours recognize their contributions in 2026 while highlighting the young talent emerging in Toronto.
