Cary Kaplan has been a leading sports executive since 1995.

As founder and president of Cosmos Sports in 2003 along with his wife Amelia Kaplan, the company in over 20 years of operation has become an industry leader in ticket sales, sponsorship, marketing, franchise sales, training and branding.

Cary has personally consulted for and trained over 400 teams and leagues including the National Hockey League (NHL), Phoenix Suns and Houston Rockets (NBA), Canadian Football League (CFL), National Lacrosse League (NLL), Calgary Flames, Edmonton Oilers & Ottawa Senators (NHL).

Cosmos many high profile and diverse clients have included Cirque du Soleil, Feld Entertainment, City of Mississauga, USports, Skate Canada, Rugby Canada, Curling Canada, CFL, 3ICE, Hamilton Philharmonic Orchestra, Tennis Canada, GT20 Cricket, World Rugby League, Toronto Wolfpack, Toronto Rock, Edmonton Elks, San Diego Seals, Playhockey.com and the Greater Outdoors Comedy Festival.

While running Cosmos, Cary also served various other senior sports industry roles, most notably as Commissioner of the Canadian Soccer League from 2005-2009; Chief Revenue Officer of the largest Cricket event ever in Canada, GT20 in 2019; and as president, general manager and minority owner of the Brampton Beast Hockey Club of the ECHL from 2013-2021 which had major affiliations with the Montreal Canadiens (2014-2018) & Ottawa Senators (2019-2021).

For six years, and prior to founding Cosmos Sports, Cary was a proud employee of the Edmonton Oilers Hockey Club, involved in the management of their AHL franchise, the Hamilton Bulldogs. He won the Ken McKenzie Award (1999) as the American Hockey League’s top business executive and championed the “Stay Dogs Stay” campaign in 2001, securing the long term sustainability of the hockey clubs future in Hamilton.

Cary received an Honours BA in Political Science from the University of Toronto, and subsequently achieved his MBA specializing in Marketing and International Business from Dalhousie University.
