Emily’s passion for sport developed at a young age, playing competitive hockey with The Whitby Wolves and lacrosse with The Oshawa Lady Blue Knights. She often spent her evenings cheering on her favourite Toronto sports teams with friends and family.

Emily attended The University of Connecticut where she studied Marketing and played division 1 with the women’s hockey team. A pair of knee surgeries during year 1 resulted in a medical redshirt year, which kept her off the ice for more than a full season. This setback was a blessing in disguise as it granted her a 5th and final season of college hockey with her teammates, while getting to pursue her master’s degree in Sport Management.

UConn had some historic team finishes while Emily was competing, including 2 Hockey East Finals appearances against Northeastern University. Known for its women’s sport programs and legendary basketball teams, UConn was an amazing place to grow as a person, student and athlete.

Emily continued her hockey career professionally in Vienna, Austria during the 2021-2022 season, with the EHV Sabres. The Sabres competed against teams in Austria and in the surrounding countries, including Hungary, Slovakia, and Kazakhstan. The team would go on to win The Austrian Championships. This was a year of new cultures, experiences and growth, having the opportunity to travel to 16 European countries, with Austria being one of her favourites!

The competitive edge and work ethic that she’s gained through sport is what made her curious about a career in sales, which she explored in a Business Development Internship with a startup called “NextPlay.” She was given creative freedom to generate qualified leads, and her success in producing quantifiable results was eye opening to how she can channel the intangibles she’s developed through sport, into a career in it. She believes it’s easier to see results and be successful when you’re passionate and excited about what you’re doing.

Emily’s eager to channel this excitement into securing sponsorships for Cosmos properties with the sponsorship team. She’s still involved with sport today, running youth hockey clinics, and playing recreationally in her free time. She’s also looking forward to being an Assistant Coach on The Whitby Junior Wolves bench next season!
