Sports has been a big part of Rhys’ life from playing sports growing up, to coaching hockey as a skating instructor. Eager to turn his passion for sports into a career, Rhys is currently pursuing a Sport & Event Marketing postgraduate certificate at George Brown College. Through this program, Rhys has been able to gain valuable insights about sport marketing through practical academic work and volunteering. Rhys is committed to creating good relationships between brands and communities and is looking to get more people playing sports through marketing sports to the public.

Rhys grew up playing multiple sports where he learned valuable lessons about  dedication and hard work. Rhys built confidence and formed lasting relationships through playing hockey in the GTHL. While coaching hockey in Toronto, Rhys saw the need for creating inclusive and inviting spaces in sports to keep kids involved. Rhys wants to market sports in a way that will get people involved and keep people playing sports, so they can benefit from sports like Rhys did while growing up.

Rhys grew up playing hockey, soccer, basketball and lacrosse while running track and field and cross country for his schools. Currently, Rhys plays Men’s League hockey during the week and tries to get out on the shinny rinks around Toronto as much as possible during the winter. As a Torontonian, Rhys has a love – hate relationship with the Toronto Maple Leaf’s as every true Leaf’s fan does and enjoys to getting together with friends to watch Leaf’s and Raptors games.

Rhys will be working on Cosmos’ sponsorship team as a Corporate Sponsorship Executive Intern, helping cosmos represent their property partners in finding sponsors.
