Breaking Bounds: The Rise of Amateur Long Drive Canada

By Grayson Shular| May 1, 2026

Amateur Long Drive Canada (ALD Canada) is part of the global Ultimate Long Drive framework, building a community based in competition, sportsmanship and camaraderie. ALD Canada is in the midst of their 2026 long-drive campaign that features 25 events across Canada, including 5 in each of Alberta, British Columbia, Ontario, Quebec and Manitoba. Each event showcases long-drive athletes aged U7-70+, with some competitors having the chance to be selected for the Canada team at the Ultimate Long Drive Championships.

Long Drive participants are tasked with hitting a golf ball as far as possible, competitors are given two minutes to launch six golf balls, with the longest ball finishing in the grid winning. The ALD Canada events are fueled with energy, music and cheering fans, providing a unique experience for fans and athletes alike.

ALD Canada was founded in 2019, by decorated long-drive athlete Fareen Samji, who won five consecutive Canadian Women’s Long Drive titles and two ULD World Championships. As Commissioner of ALD Canada, she has been at the forefront of the sports growth in Canada along with providing accessibility for anyone in Canada who wants the chance to compete in Long Drive events.

Reflecting on the organization’s trajectory, Samji emphasized the inclusive nature of the sport’s expansion: “I’m incredibly excited about the momentum we’re seeing in long drive across the country. The growth of the sport at a national level is not only a testament to the incredible talent we have here in Canada, but also to the increasing accessibility of the game. What’s most inspiring is that long drive is opening doors for athletes of all ages and backgrounds to step up, compete, and be part of something dynamic and powerful. We’re building a platform where every hitter, from emerging juniors to seasoned competitors, has a chance to showcase their strength, passion, and potential. This is just the beginning of something very special for Canadian long drive.”

Since its founding in 2019, ALD Canada has grown from a niche circuit to a premiere amateur long-drive organization with 1000+ members and 3,300 followers on social media. Under the leadership of Fareen Samji, the organization has provided accessibility and support for any Canadians that want to compete in long-drive events.

As the 2026 season marches toward the Ultimate Long Drive World Championships, ALD Canada stands as a testament to what happens when passion meets opportunity. By prioritizing both elite performance and grassroots accessibility, the organization has solidified its place as the definitive home for long drive in Canada.
